Sexy Summer Style for Your Hair

The Perky Pony

Noah Hatton, a NYC hairstylist says that bigger is better this season, in terms of your ponytails! Upgrade your look by giving your ponytail a boost by teasing the roots of your hair to increase volume. Back-comb your hair while it is down and after you have put it up. For an all-day look, spray some volumzing texturizer to make it last!

Mermaid Mane

Curly is always in when it’s summer time! Waves are all the rave, and with a few simple steps it can all be yours. Apply volumizing mousse to towel-dried hair. After blow-drying your hair wrap 3-inch-wide sections around the barrel of a curling iron. If the curls become too tight – gently break them up with your fingers.

Silk-Wrapped Strands

Not enough time to glam your hair?! Slipping on a colorful scarf will glam up any look-from the beach to work you’ll be looking your best in no time flat. Just fold a scarf several times until it’s approximately 3 inches wide. Brush your hair back and then tie the scarf around your head, no more than 2 inches from your hairline.

The Hideous Truth of Indoor Tanning

A major scientific report has just announced that indoor tanning devices are “definitely carcinogenic”; meaning that tanning beds WILL cause cancer. It has been proven that if you start your skin-cooking habit before the age of 30, your risk of developing melanoma increases by 75%.

We are here to bust some of these skin-baking myths:

Myth 1: To get the vitamin D you need, some fake & bake time is required.

  • False, you can get enough Vitamin D your body requires by being outside with sunscreen for 5 to 15 minutes per week, taking vitamin supplements, or eating vitamin rich foods.

Myth 2: Melanoma can be found on parts of the body that aren’t exposed to sun, so UV light is not the sole cause of melanoma.

  • False, there is 50 years of research that proves there is a strong correlation between sun exposure and all forms of skin cancer.

Myth 3: A base tan will protect you from sun damage.

  • False, any color that your skin has means skin damage has already occurred. When outside, always slather on that SPF for beneficial sun protection.

So, why pay for cancer in a box when the (approximately) $40 you spend per month on your fake & bake you could have bought one of these…

            – 4 manicures

            – 13 lattes

            – 40 songs downloaded to your iPod

            – the 1st round at happy hour for you and your friends

-an Express Signature Facial at Facelogic Redmond to keep your skin healthy and

              young looking
